Rob spent over 20 years in the construction industry doing everything from operating bulldozers to running a successful commercial landscaping firm after studying horticulture as a mature age student.
His media career began as a part time interest on 3DB in 1985, becoming full time by 1995. He has worked on national TV, written for major newspapers and gardening magazines and for over 20 years has dispensed gardening advice on radio stations around Australia.
- What was your first job?
- Paper boy.
- What is your favourite on air moment thus far?
- The proudest moment was having my Mum in the studio with me and giving her the chance to answer some talkback callers (she learnt it’s not as easy as it sounds!).
- What is your most embarrassing on air moment?
- Forgetting to turn the microphone off going to a break and making some less than complimentary remarks about someone I had just interviewed over the phone. Microphones are dangerous!
- If you could interview anyone (living or dead) who would it be?
- Adam and Eve. I’d love to know what variety that apple tree was. Could be a marketing winner...
