John Stanley has worked in radio as a journalist/broadcaster for more than 30 years.
Starting in country radio in Moree, he moved into journalism and to Canberra as a political reporter in 1979.
In the 1980s he reported NSW politics from Macquarie street , then moved back to Canberra as chief political correspondent for the Macquarie radio network.
In 1988 he joined 2UE as assistant programme director and producer of the breakfast show.
In 1990 he took on the Drive time current affairs programme and in 1998 was promoted to the afternoon shift, adding talkback and entertainment to his repertoire.
He is a life long supporter of the Dragons Rugby League team, an ambassador for the Sydney Swans, and a member of the Ryde Parramatta Golf Club.
He is married to Elissa with a son, Thomas, born in March 2007.
